Let us Introduce you to Fong-Yu Heng: 4th year Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery student at University of Adelaide. Here’s his story:
//
• What are a few of your proudest achievements?
F: Best first year prize for MBBS
//
• Reflecting on those achievements, can you emphasise on them and explain what/how much they mean to you?
F: My proudest achievements are to have the honour to be a Malaysian Scholar and pursue my study in University of Adelaide and be awarded the highest achiever in AS level mathematics. Those achievements have been the evidence that my hard work had paid off and that with every effort bears the fruit of success, but without any effort there is no success at all. They have been a constant reminder for me to continue working towards the person I wanted to be.
//
• What are some of the struggles you have faced in your 'journey' towards these achievements?
F: The struggles that I faced is that before the long journey reaches its checkpoint, there are distractions to pull me away from the track and halt my progress.
//
• What is one piece of advice you would give to other Malaysian students who have their sights set on lofty goals and achieving big things?
F: It is good to think big and more, but there is always limitation to a human. Set a list and prioritise what is the most important thing to accomplish first and then the other so that you won’t get defeated and give up even before u have a sight of the door to success!
