Most recently, the 2018 Meet and Greet + Welcoming BBQ in Semester 1 was organised in collaboration with other Malaysian Students Organisations (MSOs). Attracting more than 200 unique participants, it was the first touchpoint for many new Malaysian students when arriving to Adelaide.
In this annual event, students were also given the opportunity to mingle with the MSOs here in Adelaide, expanding their network and discovering the opportunities available for them, while receiving the strong support from their Malaysian seniors here. |
On the 5th and 6th May 2018, MASCA in collaboration with AUMSA and KUA organised the South Australia Malaysian Games (SAMG) which is a rebranding of the previous SA Games in 2017.
The event is open to people from ASEAN countries especially Malaysians, students and non-students alike. The purpose of the event is to promote friendly interaction among all participants and to unite the passion of people for sports. |
To ensure our Malaysian students here receive the best support not only through networking, but also through professional development as well, MASCA South Australia Chapter and Kelab UMNO Adelaide (KUA) annually collaborate to organise the Career Workshop: with the goal to prepare students into their career paths.
In these workshops, students are exposed to not only the significance of a resume (where students are allowed to submit their resume in advance for feedback), but the skills and personal qualities such as mannerism and interview tips. |
The Malaysian Gala Night held in conjunction with Merdeka Day was piloted in 2017, a titanic effort between Kelab UMNO Australia - Adelaide (KUA), MASCA South Australia Chapter and multiple Malaysian Students' Organisations (MSOs) across South Australia.
Attracting nearly 300 participants, it was considered the most significant Malaysian event in South Australia. Attendees were treated to live performances from Imran Ajmain and various cultural performances, from our very local Malaysian students here. Furthermore, the night was filled with the excitement of meeting new friends and participating in lucky draws organised by the committee. |
To promote Malaysian culture even further to the local community here in South Australia, MASCA South Australia Chapter participated by managing a cultural stall in Multicultural Festival 2015.
Our council members sold traditional Malaysian desserts (known as “kuihs”) and dressed up in our traditional outfits for photographic opportunities while mingling with crowd at Rundle Mall, slowing engaging and attracting the 1000-strong crowd of visitors to our booth where they are able to sample the Malaysian desserts and learn more about our culture. |
To provide an avenue for intellectual discussions and gather like minded Malaysian students in South Australia, MASCA South Australia Chapter organised the Malaysia Day Chit-Chat in 2015: which saw the creation of an appropriate platform for the students to voice out their opinions and carry out a discussion in an unbiased and relaxed atmosphere
The theme of the discussion was “Civic participation on social media”, which saw a turnout of nearly 70 participants that day. This event was succeeded by the Speak Up! Transformasi 2050 event held by Kelab UMNO Adelaide (KUA) in 2017. |
The SA International eSports Tournament was piloted in 2016 to cater to the wishes of students who would like to meet other students; local, international, or fellow Malaysians who share the same passion for eSports.
The two eSports contested were DotA 2 and FIFA. Held at two different venues, participants were able to put their interest and passion to the task of winning attractive prizes, but also forge new friendships along the way. |
To celebrate Malaysia’s independence day as well as to promote Malaysian culture among local communities. This event was opened for both local and international students.
Hence, students were provided with not only the opportunity to meet with other Malaysian students, but also the platform for various university students to network with one another. The event was the first engagement point for the students who had just arrived in July. |
R.E.S.T, an acronym that stands for Raya Exam Sweet Thoughts is a rebranding of SWOTVAC & IFTAR Care Pack. During this week, R.E.S.T acst as a motivator for Malaysian university students to revise for their upcoming examination while in "Eid al-Fitr" mood.
Hence, to support Malaysians students who are studying in South Australian institutions, MASCA SA have decided to launch a new initiative, providing "Care Pack" to students. |
Social Outreach Love Environment (SOLE) is an event with the purpose of helping the less fortunate while promoting love for the environment; giving out the goody bags to the homeless around the Adelaide CBD.
It serves as a platform for the students to get involved with the society and make connections with others. It may seem small, but we hope we could inspire others to do good to people We would like to thank the volunteers too! Without them, the event would not have been possible. |
